Grady WHITE Christmas !

Congrats Greg, very nice boat.
Really great deals South of the border on boats.
Bot ours down there 2 years ago, was 3 mos old with only 28hrs on her for approx 60 cents on the dollar, amazing stuff.
Hope to see you on the water soon!

Maybe we should aim to get the Grady Bunch together at the Logger Sports Derby in March...could be a lot of fun and make for a great picture or two.

Ahem Ahem, I just happen to see Dreamtime in town with a couple Grady's on the back today,
I think we may have lost Peahead for awhile
very nice looking Rigs for sure, wonder who the other lucky guy is??,
funny I was just watching shipping wars last night which I had PVR'd and dreamtime was one of the carriers, then I see them today

Yes, that was Greg's boat(s).

I got an email from him about an hour ago. And yes, there are photos! I'm sure that Greg will post as soon as he gets a chance. He had a long day!

I would post some photos myself, but as they Greg's, I'll leave the honor to him.

Hi John,
Wow its been a while .....how you doing Luongo ....you been stopping any pucks lately or just killing hogs!!
As I recall, last time we spoke may have been up at Westview in Tahsis when I was up fishin with Sushi ??? You had the 21 Marlin then right ? You sell the Marlin a couple years ago and get something diff ?
Yeah 3 of us went down to NC in early december for a few days of "Christmas shopping" -- darned if we couldn't find anything for our wives/GF's so figured we might as well pick up something for ourselves and found a couple Grady's to ship back ;-) . a buddy and I partnered on the 232 Gulftream ( you will see out in the guiding fleet this year) and the other fellow got the 228 Seafarer. Soon as I get a chance I will post a couple shots of the boats in tow as they arrived.

Very sick looking rig Greg, you going with a new name for her ?

Hey Dave,
No name confirmed yet but let you know.

I am not actually using the 232 Grady to replace the DE rather the Grady purchase was a partnership and will be working/chartering so not available too often for "playing" . Because I just have to have a boat available at all times , I will use the DE until about June then will be replaced . She's actually sold now but I can hang on until I find a replacement - not a bad agreement ! Getting close to heading south again .....hopefully before Spring hits!

Yep Gidyup that was them you saw on Tuesday arriving in Vancouver - and yep that was Dream Time/ Scott and Susie. Ye there was some interesting stories about filming the TV series !

Peahead, congrats on you new Grady. I am also looking at a 228 on the East coast of the US. 250HP Yam with low hours, its an 06. Price is 50K. Do you mind telling me if you friends 228 was in the same price range? Don't need specifics, just if mine is in the ball park. Also, can you tell me the transport cost using the Dream folks. Did they deal with Canada Customs and all the tax at the border for you etc? Were you happy with their service and did you have to wait long for them to haul it up? Last question, did you have to do a lean search on the boat in advance of crossing the border? Sorry for all the questions but current knowledge is important given the rules change so often. You can PM me if you want. Your mailbox is full....Pescador...

Thanks Pescador, and good luck on your purchase what ever you may decide. I actually am pretty certain I know of the boat to which you are interested. I can only say that because I saw it and likely almost every Grady selling in the US since September !

Without exposing details if it sports the name "Popcorn" then I know the boat and I know what the asking price is. The boat looks very clean and well looked after with nice electronics , excellent power, radar and pretty good hours for age. I however haven't looked at Grady's that new so Grady's in the 1998 -2003 age , I am far more familiar with. I tend to like to find a little older Grady's for less cost with very low hours for their age ( like the 01' twins on the 232 had 298 hours via YDS computer report !! ) I'd say that 50 K is an acceptable price but remember by the time you add travel there, done the checks, paid the USD exchange rate and shipped it you are in for 56-60K before tax ! . You could probably get price a bit lower , especially because I know the asking price on that boat and the % potential for a drop . Also in my experience south of the location where that boat is , the prices are generally better deal - as you get north up north of where your boat is , I find prices get higher. Similarily west coast US prices arent nearly as good.
Hope that helps - I do know of a couple of nice clean 228's up here in Vancouver area that are asking mid forties - a little older yes , but Yami 4 strokes and in great shape plus no shipping charges, travelling expenses and possible exchange rates that cost you another grand or more - let me know and I can pass along more info if you like....even just for comparison
Edit -- forgot to tell you that Dream Time were good. Prices completely depend on what kind of other shipment they can double up on and how much of the trip there is a piggy back. If they know they have a shipment that will pay going home - you get a better deal . Its bargin bargin bargin ..... if you can wait and they can take their time you can get better deal . The more specific and tight your request is , the more it will cost. We had two boats so better deal - $6100 for both but we wre very flexible as to pick up ( make sure your dealer is as well ) We had to wait a while for the trip and the tow took a while longer due to weather and also the TV series/shooting/business slowed them down in Texas - actually if you watch the show, you will see what shippers are up against and why sometimes thay can offer deals and other times they have to stick to a price. I liked Dream Time and I'd use em again -

Peahead, thanks for the quick and very detailed response. Not sure we're talking about the same boat in the US,but, your insight is very helpful. I, as I suspect you, watch the market closely. Ya, you get to know every Grady pretty quickly, becomes a bit of an obsession. Think you know what I mean. Anyway, good to hear Dream Time did a good job for you. Thanks for your help. I'll need to contemplate my next move. Good luck with your new boat. It looks great.....

Hey Gregg, yes still stopping pucks after all these years, keeps me sane.
Sold the Marlin 2 yrs ago after 12 years and upgraded to a much more comfortable ride.
Now killing in style!
Expensive tastes we have buying Gradys and Albemarles but life is short.
When its time to check out I don't want to have any regrets!
Bot our boat in California, too good a deal to resist!
Now just need endless fuel to keep her running.
I'll send you a PM and perhaps we can re-connect over a cold beverage.
JG
