GPS Help

Hello all,
I have a Standard horizon CP150. For those who might have one of these, my system is not "Acquiring Signal". Internal components seem to be okay, from the checks found in the manual, but it just wont . Im assuming something is wrong with my antenna, i keep plugging in and unplugging and it doesn't affect the result. Any tips would be great.

I've got one of those,sounds like the antenna is toast.Check at the connection at the base of the antenna,where it goes into it.The wire is really flimsy.I assume nothing is blocking the antenna?And is this a new install?I did one for a buddy a couple of years ago and we had to extend it about 4 inches out of the deck for it to work.Hope that helps.Dan

Take the head into a standard horizon dealer, they can hook it to a noin good antenna and you will no. I had the same problem with mine, thats what I did. It was the antenna but the guy what no's said it could of just as easyly been some duhicky inside the head. Antenna's are about a $100, being sure may save you 100 bucks. Good luck.

Most dealers will not have the demo units connected to an antenna in the store. You might want to see if you could buy an antenna with the understanding that you can bring it back if the problem is not in the antenna. I suspect that it is an antenna issue.

There are a lot of stores that carry Horizon brand throughout BC. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I will try to bring it in to get tested. Online, I am looking at some aftermarket GPS antennas that are about half of the price of new ones that say they are compatible. Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket brands? Assuming of course i have to replace my antenna..

I have the same unit. The connector was shot on mine.
There is a radio shop in behind the Red Lion. They are the only place I found that carries the connector. Look in your manual at the spec's section and it gives the name of the connector for the GPS. The connectors are cheaper off EBAY.
