I would try to call the BC gps store in winfield. They are located in the Okanagan valley. I have called them for help and had good success. Give them a try.

How old is the unit? I recall something I read on another forum about older units that stopped working because of a change in satellite data output format(or some such thing). There may be a software upgrade available for your unit. Check the Garmin website for updates. If not, I recall reading something about some units could be made to work again by changing some settings. Sorry but I don't recall a lot of the details.

I suggest you contact Garmin, if you can't resolve this on your own.
Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

This is a longshot as I suspect you already know this but occassionally I have had to initialize my Garmin to reset my world location as North America. When it doesn't know what part of the world you are it cannot recognize satellites. Although I think the menu tells you to intialize as I recall, so maybe that is not the problem.

After reading the link Kildonan posted, it refreshed my memory regarding the setting to change. If your problem is related to the one I read about, one of the possible solutions was to disable "WAAS".

Worth a try, good luck.

I have an older Garmin 45.

One problem I had with this is it not finding satellites when first turning it on.

To fix this, you have to set it manually to a position near where you are. Once done, you need to turn it on and let it find the satellites. Sometimes takes a half hour or so. Once done, it should work fine unless you move a great distance without the unit turned on and tracking.
