I was going to head to Campbell River tomorrow for the Ocean Pacific annual sale. I was looking to buy a new HH auto inflate PFD and possibly a ACR Resqlink personal locator unit.

But I happened to talk to FA and he told me that CV Marine in Courtenay was matching the CR prices. Checked it out and he was correct. Decided to buy the Resqlink after reading about that fisherman that was in the water for 12 hrs on the West Coast.. Also bought the deluxe model vest with extra padding after trying the standard auto inflate one. Too rough on the neck. Got a really good discounted price.

All told-- got what I wanted locally and saved about $25 in gas and a couple of hrs of my time.

I have only stopped at CV Marine once since Dennis and his wife...retired. Seemed strange that Dennis was not there, but the the new fella that helped us was quite knowledgeable and their prices seemed reasonable. Glad to hear they were willing to match Campbell River's prices. We have the auto inflate vests, but mostly use them them in the warmer weather, as we prefer the cruiser suits during the colder times. Definitely, the ACR Resqlink personal locator unit is a good score.

Here's to shopping local  dont have anything against CR but gotta support the small guy tryin to make a buck. Good on him for meeting the prices even if it just means a new customer leaving happy out his door.
