Got a new gopro camera

Yeah, I have one. I've used it for kayaking, on my boat and scuba diving. It's not a bad little camera.

I just picked one up as well. My son has been playing around with it on his BMX and has some pretty cool footage riding bowls and skate parks etc. I can't wait to get it out on the water.

first season with my gopro...already seen time on, and in the water! Love that damn little camera so far....already caught a seal snacking on our prawn scraps...pretty cool!

Can't wait to try it on the mountain bike! Or if I can remeber to grab it when there's a fish on..

OH the GoPro does NOT float..I assumed it wouldn't but I wanted to find out in shallow water...doesn't sink like a rock but sinks it does....im going to attach some type of floatation to the head mounted system...if it falls into the water fighting/netting/filming a fish....I would like it to stay at sea level, not below....just a thought!

I just used a piece of Tuffline (100Lb) and made a leash for it. I attach it to a solid part of whatever I mount it on. Works and is cheap. Also using the little white plug that comes with the mounting system works well to stop the waves from pushing the camera out of the mount when it catches a breaker head on.

nice filming! Cant wait to start surfing again up here. I was just reading on their site that they are waterproof to 197ft. I wonder what type of footage you could get if you sent it down with your halibut setup.

Talk to Hourston on this site he has some incredible footage with the gopro attached to the spreader bar at 170 ft halis coming up and taking the bait ,great stuff ,tons of potential,

That sounds wild. Like you said tons of potential. I can't wait to try it out on the water.

Great filming today they work great, but its a risk using them down deep. Caught two Halibut today with the cam 2 ft from its face. Then jigged up a Salmon with the GoPro on the bottom, watching. very cool stuff.

That sounds really cool Hourston! Are your videos available to watch online? What does your setup look like? Curious how you attach it so close to the lure.

I got a GoPro last Christmas, have not used it much yet - it is not the latest Hero 2, but image quality still seems pretty amazing. One thing I have found is that the files get so large that they are a bit diffucult to handle unless you have a fairly powerful computer.

Get that chit up on youtube.... or vimeo, photbucket? or something J dub...

I wanna see it..

I used an old telescopic dip net handle. Cut off the net loop then screwed one of the bases to the end. I just stood on the swim grid and pointed as best I could to get vids of Jughead. I found I had to convert the video files to mpg to watch them tho. I downloaded a converter online at avs4u.com. I don't recall what I paid but it was cheap. Unlimited, lifetime, one-time payment.

Also, there's an adapter that snaps on the back so you can view what you just filmed or what you're filming live, view menu, etc. It's called BacPac. Cost about $100. You need this and the extra back doors that come with the package.
