Garmin Active Captain/Homeport.

I’m still trying to figure out Active Captain. Anybody using it? I have Garmin Homeport and now that Garmin has stopped supporting it I find it’s not working the same. Is Active Captain it’s replacement? Can you lay out tracks/routes and download them onto an sd card then your Chart Plotter? I just find Garmin isn’t clear on their process’s. I bought maps thru their Active Captain/ Navionics site but can’t figure out how to now download them after spending the $21 US. To be honest I find the site to be a pain in the butt.

I use the Mac version; discontinued but still works

Haven't seen anything in Active Captain that is useful to me.
