I recently purchased a Garmin 942xs. I have the GT21-TM transducer. Is anyone familiar with the Garmin 942xs?
Is there a better transducer option available?
I'm not interested in the Sidevu option.
I will only use it on the ocean, primarily for trolling and finding humps to fish halibut and lingcod.

IMO "whatever" vu is worthless for what you want to do unless catching is slow & you use the F/F as a computer game replacement. It's probably OK in shallow water for bass though.
The rest of the transducer functions provide dual 50/200 Khz traditional sonar at 500 watts. I just ordered a B175HW for my Garmin which is high frequency CHIRP with a wide beam angle and 1,000 watts. It is rated for 500 feet. Double the power will give another 3db of signal gain, which isn't that huge. It cost $1150 US; probably more that you paid for the whole package?
IMO your existing ducer will find humps just fine but will not show suspended fish targets as well as the $1150 ducer. I have heard the TM150 is a pretty good CHIRP ducer . This youtube vid may help:
