The Garden Bay Pub Fishing Derby is going to be the first weekend in May (this weekend) and runs from Friday to Sunday. Here's some info from the local paper and posted on the Chamber of Commerce website www.penderharbour.ca:

Garden Bay Classic Fishing Derby
When: May 1-3, 2015
Where: Garden Bay Hotel & Marina
Details: This three-day salmon derby, the biggest in the area, includes a $1,000 first prize, $1,000 reverse draw, boat auction, Calcutta draw, dinner and awards ceremony. $100 entry fee and all proceeds to salmon enhancement.
More details from Garden Bay Pub: Fishing derby is on for May 1-3, registration fee of $100 is due on the 1st. Dinner on the 2nd at 630pm, and the prizes will be awarded on the 3rd after the final weigh-in at 1pm
