Galv or SS fastenings on Aluminium?

Just a quick question.
Replacing seats, transom support etc on my little 9 foot aluminium trout boat and seem to recall reading that SS fastenings should not be used on an aluminium hull. Electrolosis problem.
True?

Can't find any decent (ie hot dipped) small (3/16") galvanized bolts so thought of stainless but ... unsure.

Thanks

Hello Time

Fresh water has alot less effect on electrolisis vs salt however putting a plastic barrier or rubber "NOT BLACK RUBBER AS IT HAS CARBON IN IT" between your mounts and aluminum is a very good idea galvanised is worse then SS for galvanic reaction of disimular metals.

Cheers ME

you can mount a zinc somewhere under the water line. If your boats not going to be in salt water, dont even worry about it.

Thanks Guys.

I have about 40 bolts to replace and will use stainless.
Pain in the a.. drilling out the old ones.
