Gag Order Legislation to Protect Fish Farms

They would only do that if they had something to hide, personally I believe they do. Normally it is the Government's responsibility to protect the people from unscrupulous buisiness practices, they are not doing that. BOOO!
 
That's outrageous!!! How can they (The Libs), if this is true, even remotely believe this is a good idea and what this may do to them in public opinion polls. On the brink of election time and they shoot themselves in the foot almost daily. Not that I was ever a fan but holy cow.

Where has common sense gone and it makes my hair stand on end to think where this stupidity will all end. <head shake>
 
The people that are running this country are absolutely insane! They must be putting something in the water coolers that is affecting their ability to think and creating a stupidity outbreak at the "stupidity farm". Oh ****, am I allowed to talk about this publicly? I just mentioned a stupidity outbreak and farm in the same sentence on a public forum.

Truely amazing! Just when you thought that things couldn't get any more idiotic, our politicians step up to the plate and put another one out of the park. Well done you freaking morons.

That really is unbelievable. Where are our protests at getting gagged like this? We need to import a few Quebecois to lead the rallies.
 
Now perhaps - just maybe - those on this forum who 'whined' about salmon farming then voted Campbell's Liberals in for another term, may vote differently this time around?

Do you think a change of Party voted in is going to change the fate of fish farms?

I doubt it but there's no doubt at this point we are going to find out.
 
and who do we vote for? what is the alternative? I try not to vote "against" the conservatives, but since they got a majority it seems that the only strategy that will work is voting liberal :( so sad that we have so few choices and are tyrannized by a small majority in our very flawed system. Last year I voted green, and Elizabeth May was elected for my riding...should I do that again or vote liberal or NDP in the hopes that another seat will push out the conservative majority? Please tell me I really want to know.
 
364 days till provincial election - This gag order is comming from the the lib's who are in power.
Don't know about you but I will be trying to kick the bums out.
I'll be voting for the NDP in this one as these bums need to be sent packing.

What will this gag order achieve? Push those who have something to say to make their announcement from outside of Canada and beyond the reach of prosecution. Maybe its a god send, an audience from outside of Canada may have a more positive effect. Canadians don't seem to be listening, maybe the rest of the world will and action will result. A boycott would be great.
 
To add...I'm sure DR Morton will continue to do her work. She will have to find someone who lives outside of Canada to speak on her behalf and explain her latest work and findings.

It is true, no one will be able to talk about "reportable diseases" Yesterday I waited for the mort packer from Clayoquot, it arrived in Port Alberni at 2am and began pumping at about 8 am. The hoses from these trucks were dripping bloodwater and we followed them and found they are being dumped at Land, Earth and Sea "organic" composting on a side hill between Port Alberni and China Creek. Mainstream has posted that we threatened their biosecurity RIGHT..... It is tragic this boat full of highly infectious farm salmon is carefully avoiding every salmon farm and using Port Alberni probably because there is no salmon farming company in it keeping this boat away from their fish. I contacted the local FN fisheries officer Andy Olsen, he and ex-chief Les Sams came down and asked for samples of the fish so they could find out exactly what virus they have, but they were denied so far. DFO was called but never made themselves visible. We posted videos at salmon are sacred Facebook and I posted on my blog at alexandramorton.typepad.com

Anyone who wants wild salmon in Port Alberni should consider witnessing the next off-loading - which takes place right at the dock near the Quay. The culling is almost over this has been going on since about May 17. The boat is Ocean King and will likely be in later today.

The dead fish need to be removed before the first rains and taken to the much more secure composting site in Parksville - at Mainstream's expense not ours.

If Christy Clark has her way this is the last time we can stand up to the Norwegian fish farmers regarding "reportable diseases" which of course are all the bad ones, without facing a 2 year jain term. I am in shock over this. you can contact me at 250-974-7086 if you need to but I am not sure what more I can do.

After reading through the Act, it looks like it will specifically prevent 'whistleblowers' from reporting on the diseases they see in the performance of their jobs. This includes public as well as government people. Draconian is a good word for this.

I cannot believe this is happening in Canada. Imagine if you were a hobby raising poultry (H1N1) or beef (Hoof & Mouth) or whatever. Officials could descend on your farm, night or day and confiscate everything and YOU would be arrested and jailed if you spoke out! Is Canada now a neo-Communist Dictatorship. 1984 has nothing on this where laws are meant to accommodate corporations and citizens loose all rights. This makes me ill!

thank you for all your hard work to date. Would you happen to have a list of contacts (politicians, liberals, NDP, conservatives, media outlets) that WE as private individuals can call, e-mail, politely harass, so that they realize this is a bigger issue than they assumed. I feel that our best bet is to get the government opposition parties to see that this could be a HUGE political talking point to gain supporters, it may get the attention it deserves.

Once again, thanks for taking a stand against this tyranny. You have helped me step out of the shadows, and made me realise that I have no choice but to stand up and fight. No one here has a right to whine and complain if the do not stand up and help the cause however they can. I have never been an advocate or enviromentalist per se, but you can count me in to be on team Salmon!! Enough is enough!!

I have sent local BC libs several e-mails today. I will also send emails to the conservatives and NDP. I encourage EVERYONE here to do the same. It only takes a small amount of time and effort.
 
I know that people in goverment give lip service to the enviroment during election's but really all they care about is getting elected . What they really need to do is ban people that lobby on behalf of industry. Where are the people that lobby on behalf of the common man -- nowhere that's where. Actually it is supposed to be our elected representatives ---what a joke. Victoria or Ottawa it doesn't matter they muzzle our scientists from telling us the truth, when the truth will embarress the people that donate to them . Maybe the anarchist's will save us. I want to be the guy that catch's the last wild pacific salmon.
 
On Remembrance Day in November, as we all take our hats off for the fallen soldiers who died to protect our freedoms....democratic freedom that is.......I will try to determine how many "freedoms" we have left.

If all our freedoms are completely erroded little by little...then they died for nothing.

If there's a gag order to protect fish farms ...then fish farms have lots to hide.

About time we turfed that radio talk show host out of B.C.'s top job.
