French Creek to Gerald - any fish being caught?

Hey all, new here, hope I'm in the right spot. We've been fishing mainly Ballenas, Gerald several times and only caught one small spring. Maybe the wrong area, not deep enough, too early, who knows. Usually we use hootchies or spinners, at various depths. Lot's of cod and rock fish but not much else.
Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

We went out today off French Creek. There was several boats out but didn't see or hear of any being landed nor did we see many on the fish finder. Perhaps we're just a bit too early.

Theres definately fish around. Just need to be right place at the right time. Their patterns seem a bit weird this year. We only landed one today but a buddy landed 3 yesterday out of schooner.

Has anyone been having any luck out there? It was hot out a couple of weeks ago but seems to have all but died down. I often take the dog down to French Creek and talk to the odd fisherman (fisherperson?) but not much happening.
We've only been out a dozen times or so this year and have 2 smallist springs to show for it. But hell it's fun ain't it.
On the plus side trout fishing has remained strong at least up to now.

can you get pinks just out front of French, or do you have to head over towards the mainland?

just off columbia beach in 230 sometimes behind lasqueti ive heard is good to for fish this time of year i gillnetted in there about 20 years ago and got lots this time of year -mostly sockeye-- has anybody fished there this year??

also interested in sox near Lasqueti...short run fron Schooner!
Anyone know specific channels they run down? or is it everywhere between Sangster and the mainland?

Area 14 is open but
- Area 16 – remains closed to sockeye retention in order to protect Sakinaw
Lake sockeye. It is anticipated that Subareas 16-19 to 21 (Sabine Channel)
could open to sockeye retention in early August and will be confirmed by
fishery notice
