Fraser sockeye from the bank

Hey guys,
With all of these millions of fish making their way up the river, I was wondering if there are any preferred spots for fishing the Fraser in the Vancouver / Richmond area from shore?

I have been down to Angus lands / Macdonald beach and seen some jumpers, but they are still quite far out.

Has anyone given this a shot? I am not thinking bottom bouncing, more throwing pink spoons and spinners. Its a big river though and may be tough to get out deep enough.

Most fish aren't travelling in the middle of the river but a lot closer to shore than you think.

I'd head to the rocks @ McDonald beach on the rising tide</u> and cast Pink Crocs or Pixies downstream on a 45 degree angle and let the spoon swing around until it's almost below you then reel in.

Thanks Dogbreath, makes sense. Are you suggesting the rocks because it is a little deeper there and may hold fish?

I have to confess I was on the Fraser the other day walking the dog right across the river from Macdonald beach. I saw some jumpers, so grabbed the spinning rod from the car and swam 20' out to one of the log booms off the golf course (I know, not advised) and spent about 30 mins casting. Looked like there was some potential, so just curious if anyone has had any luck. not sure if a Sock would hit a lure in the river...

Looks like a deeper/slower place for them to travel haven't taken a real close look though.

I know the area used to walk a friend's dog along there years ago.

Sox might strike @ a lure I've had it happen further upstream-that's why I suggest just dangling it across/down the current not just cast 'n retrieve.
