Fold-Away hinge kit 5000 lb

I’m wanting to install a fold-away hinge kit 5000lb onto my 4800 lb ez loader trailer. Has anybody had a fold-away hinge kit installed onto there trailer. Where would I be able to find a fold-away kit. Any idea on a shop to weld it onto the trailer. I guess I’ll have to get a flex line install for the brake line to.

One of the reasons people install a fold away hinge kit is to get their rig to fit into their garage. Another is to extend the length of their reach so that it is no longer necessary to drive their tow vehicle into the water. Their are limits of course as to how long the extension can be for safety reasons. There have been problems with the hinge in the past and I draw you attention to Fulton foldaway hitch, check yours | SportFishing BC for reference. I have one on my trailer, but I am towing a 16ft whaler and the weight is much less then yours.
Another thing to consider is your desire to have one welded on. Galvanised steel as the base to weld on, must be cleaned down to bare steel before welding to lessen the emmision of toxic zinc oxide fumes that are released when welding. Welding also removed the galvanised coating and the rust protection is reduced. There are bolt on hinges that are suitable for DIY installation or shop installation.

Dont do it!!!! I had a very close call when the hitch pin bolt broke on my Fulton years ago. Had a custom made tongue and stanchion made and never had to worry. More info on the problem can be found on the Ifish board out of Oregon.
