I've been there a few times, and by far the best Captain I've gone out with is Capt. Lora - fishes out of La Cruz - his boat name is "FORTUNA" - 28ft Super Panga. Good Luck

Lora runs a great panga operation out of Punta Mita up at the north end of the bay...worth the effort to get there for the distance out to the fishing and for the cost of his boat. cell: 011 52 1322 133 3999

Got a couple of more contacts out of La Cruz that are very decent for inshore and some offshore.
Shoot me a PM if you want more info

Thanks
I am staying not far from Punta Mita. (Punta de Mita looks closest on the map)

I will look into this option.

Thanks!

where you staying tips?

super jealous spen two weeks in the area in Jan and ready to go back....

My mistake - Lora is in Punta Mita - just north of La Cruz - I was thinking of the great fish market in La Cruz - great shrimp etc.
Lora has always put us on great fishing - maybe not always fish you would eat - like Roosters or Toro - great fun but no one eats them. That's why I found out about the fish market in La Cruz.

Adios

Staying at Grand Palladium near Punta Mita.
Only interested in fishing not worried about keeping my catch. Staying at all inclusive.
Looking for good sports fishing.

Don't know Mexico well. Only been a couple of times. Last time was 8 years ago.

Thanks

You can ask in advance if the chef will cook up a fillet for you. I did that and had a GREAT dinner for the wife and myself. I took a Dorado into the kitchen, gave 1/2 to the chef for his personla use, and ate the other half. The looks from the other guestst in the dining room were priceless when the chef personally delivered a sizzling platter of dorado with lemon, butter and garlic . Tipped him $20 and the head waiter $10. Well worth it.

Should add that we got incredible service in the resort after that!

Thanks for the recommendations and phone number. The boats in Punta Mita turned out to be 11km from where I was.

Hooked up with Capt. Lora on Friday. Nice set up and good fisherman.
We did 5 hour inshore morning. Landed 9 mahi mahi and 6 jacks. The jacks were 25lb range and were like hooking the bumper of a truck!

I would definately recommend Lora.

Congrats on the great trip with Capt. Lora. Wow 9 Dorado, thats fantastic. IMHO they are better eating then Hali's. Jacks, I assume are also called Torro are great fighters, and all this in 5 hours. You picked a great trip.

These were Jack Crevalles.
Great fight on the gear we were using.
One of the best parts of the trip with Lora was the style of fishing and type of gear.
We fished mostly live bait with 1 spinning rod off the front for site casting. We handled our own gear with his help and fished like locals.

... Oh ya, do NOT stay at Palladium Vallart Resort!
Worst food and service I have ever experianced. They either have a water issue or a food safe issue as 3/4 of or party of 40 were seriously sick and reports from other parties were the same. There is no excuse for the poor service. Just check out the reviews on Tripadvisor. It definately was not just our group.

Sorry to hear about the resort experience, but happy to hear that your fishing was awesome! Photos? I have to say that a freshly caught Dorado is pretty much the best eating fish I've had. One day I'll get back there for another fishing trip.

Got a few pics coming. Just got back and haven't got that together yet. We had a couple cameras going so will waiting for the picture exchange.
