Hi

Two good links:

nootka fishing info
http://www.sportfishingbc.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6293

additional recent info
http://www.sportfishingbc.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9010&SearchTerms=nootka

I am booked at Critter Cover July 7-9, family trip with wife, and two daughters (7 and 10). Where are you staying? Depending on how things go, I might also add on some camping days after, possibly family, or possibly just the boys.

PM me if you want more info.

If you are camping at Cougar Creek, the fishing is very protected around that whole area. We have been there for the last 8 years, kids were 4 and 7 when we started going there, they have a great time swimming in the creek or meeting other kids around the campground. Fishing isn't bad either.

Thanks Jaundesooka
great info we [wife,9 yr old daughter' and 7 yr old son]are planning on staying at seaside rv resort in tahsis not to sure my wife and daughter will want to fish the whole time so I'm hoping they can find something to do while me and my son fish hopefully the road there isn't to bad I will be lugging in a camper and an 18' sled

Listen to kbuller!

Both of the links mentioned are on the Southend of Nootka Island! Tahsis is on the Northend! Very different fishing grounds!

Personnally... if it were me I would stay at Cougar Creek or Critter Cove! They are in proctected waters and good fishing, plus close to several things to do. Ctitter Cove is a class act for families! Cougar Creek is a good campground for families! It is a better place for a family who is not into hardcore fishing! I believe fishing out of Tahsis is better; however, you will have to run 25+ miles to get to the fishing grounds? Not sure that would be a good trip for your son and/or the rest of your family and they will probably get bored waiting for you to get back from fishing! The Southend is well protected and has lots of places you and your family can explore togeather and not get beat up in unprotected water! ie... you can explore "Friendly Cove"!

The fishing grounds out of Tahsis is NOT in protected waters!</u>

we fish out of tahsis every year and I can say if you want to go offshore you can or you can fish the south end of nootka or fish the northern side. I am not sure why some people say its not protected. tahsis offers some stores an arcade and bowling center, lots of hiking and at least some civilization. take a look at 425vance on youtube.com for an example of fishing in and around nootka.

well It looks like couger creek is going to be a better option is this a first come camp ground or do you need to make reservations

First come site, never had a problem getting in. They try to take care of families with kids.

so all this talk about where to stay hows the fishing been any one have a recent report
