My pute just had a brain transplant after a melt down. The I am now running Windows 7, but still use IE Explorer. It has been suggested to me that Firefox is a better browser. It has been loaded, but I have not used it yet. Any comments good or bad???

You still use IE?!!! I honestly dont know a single person that uses it haha.

Yes firefox is great! takes a day or two like anything elee to get use to, but is much more friendly and much faster to use.
Some people like the google chrome browser too but i refuse to use it, i hate the looks and design of it.

I tried Firefox once and deleted it. But I do know others that love it. I know IE and have used it for years and have never had any problems.

yup, I much prefer FF to IE...and Chrome is even faster. I use all 3, depending on website apps, some prefer better than others.
Like Outlook web access is designed to work best in IE.
Gmail likes Chrome.

Yes, Firefox is much better overall but some mapping viewers on various websites (especially gov't) don't like it so I have to fire up IE once in a while. If you do try it out and are surfing around somewhere and you can't see/open an interactive map and no error messages you probably just need to copy the address and open it up in IE. Rare though.

Your **** will work fine, don't worry. And it won't hang on to as much temp file shyte if you set it to delete on closing.

I couldn't live without the FF addons! "noscript", "adblockplus", and "betterprivacy" to delete undeletable flash cookies, and "ghostery" to prevent web sites from installing tracking cookies/spyware.
Ccleaner by Piriform "secure delete minimum 7 passes" is the ultimate "disc clean" way better than the built in windows one, free version is fine but don't let it install a toolbar, uncheck the option. Nice option to save cookies of websites you wish to stay signed into and trust.
Use "private browsing" for those "private websites", no tracks....

I would hate to have to use IE!

Firefox is the best, it is totally customizable with the free extensions you can add on to it. You can totally change its appearance with tons of themes. You can add hundreds of extensions to improve its functionality to your liking. Far safer than Explorer, it is by far my favorite. I rarely use Explorer. I have many of the different browsers on my computer. I have used Chrome, Opera, and Avant browsers at various times. They all beat the Microsoft offerings, Firefox is the best by far.

I also use Firefox's companion Thunderbird for my email. It is also totally skinable with tons of themes to change its appearance. It also has many free extensions to improve its functionality. If you fear picking up a virus through emails, Thunderbird is far safer to use than the Microsoft email clients. Most of the exploits are designed for Microsoft's Outlook email program.

Be safe, don't use the Microsoft browser and email programs. They are always full of security holes that Microsoft takes their sweet time about patching.

Wow-- so much to learn! Hey Geo-- shared pute with the wife-- I behave myself!!!! hehehe (so she thinks)

Heard that a lot of viruses are programmed to slip through IE???
Firefox at work...... its ok. Google chrome here on vista......

I'm in agreement with most of the guys here.Firefox is a lot faster on both my computers than IE. I seldom use IE anymore.
