Favourite fly patterns for pinks and sea-runs, CR/Comox beaches?

If you could tie no more than five or six fly patterns for this purpose, which patterns and sizes would you bank on to put pinks and cutts in your net?

For pinks, this is my goto, I tie them on size 6. Always the first fly I put on and generally speaking, I never need to change.

Kildonan, thanks for posting that photo. Killer looking fly, for sure. I date to the era of jungle **** and peacock herl, so am obsolete on my materials. Looks like flashabou for the tail? Can you describe the pattern?

Sure. This is a fly you will see in a lot of fly boxes around the beach scene in East Coast VI. It's often referred to as "pink fuzzy".

Tail - Pearl Krystal flash 3 or 4 strands.
Body - Pink lazer wrap, I like to put a layer of flat silver tinsel underneath the lazer wrap.
Head - pink Krystal chenille.
Eyes - bead chain.
Thread - pink 6/0
Hook - mustad stainless 34011 size 6

"coho buggers" tied on sizes 4,6,8 with a chartreuse green always have done VERY well for me in low light conditions (early morning/late evening). for some reason, while fishing both campbell and Nile, the fish would not be grabbing the person (who i was fishing with) pink fly, but as soon as he changed to the green, he started catching fish. my guess i it has something to do with visibility... because Mid day the pink flys usually out produced. had cutties hit it too

now before anyone starts to get up in arms about fish biting in the river/pre-spawn... it was just an observation. no the fish were not flossed!
