EZ Steer Parts?

We have an older EZ Steer and the collar broke. We have phoned and gone online, but the only place for a complete Detente kit is from the manufacturer. We can get replacement parts for everything else for the Detente locally, but not the little screw in collar piece that goes inside the rod.

We cannot seem to find anyone who carries the collar only and were wondering if anyone else had this problem and were able to fix it from a local supplier. We would really like to get out fishing.

Thanks

I have a ez steer for sale. 75.00. I’m in Langley.

We’re heading to Bamfield this afternoon. Don’t know if your heading up island. I could bring it over

We are not planning on going up-island at all this weekend. I am assuming you will be taking the ferry to Nanaimo? What size is the EZ steer? Our C-C is 36 1/2"

Maybe take a Stainless Steel washer that just fits over the threads on the nut, essentially making a new collar. Might have to get a washer and drill it out to the exact size if it doesn’t fit snug over the threads. Pretty cheap fix.

We ended up making our own with a ss bolt that matched the thread, a little grinding and drilling to make it roughly the same, so think we are good to go. Thanks everyone for your help! Not too happy with EZ Steer in Minnesota and will probably be contacting the higher-ups about their poor service, but our local Marine stores sure went over and above to try and locate the parts for us.

EZ steer is one of the worst pieces of garbage ever made. did not work as advertised; was always coming apart in the worst seas ever leaving me dangerously hanging over the stern trying to get everything back up working again. ended up over-tighening the detentes making it a solid bar. then i found out you could do it in-board and couldn’t sell it fast enough. total garbage product.
