Was looking at my Facebook page today and found my self missing Barkley Sound and Julia Pass very much.

Here is a pic and a brief comment from me that I know everyone of you can identify with and apply to your favorite spot on earth. For those of you who have had the privilege of being in this exact spot seeing this exact view you know even better, the kind of peace this place brings to persons heart on those few days we get to spend there.

My thoughts as I took this pic.

"With calm waters and brighter skies ahead, an epic day of west coast fishing begins. Love the anticipation that builds each and every time I point the bow toward the front door and push the throttle forward. I need more of these days in my life".

Yup..know that pic u have & one thru the back door at the other end...well written..:)

Yup. You get it. Ya mean this one.

This one always makes me sad as it is the last thing I see in Julia before Pushing the throttle forward to head home.

Had the black bear follow us through on the rocks last year coming in at low tide. He came running to the edge. Thought for a minute it was going to join Dan on the bow of the boat. Then 5 days later had to wait for it to swim across before we could get out.

haa haa ya I think I know the one..he's been a behind my friends cabin a couple time...did u offer him a beer when he came to greet u..:)

I know the feeling. For me it's this image of Sail Rock that does the same thing. When it's on my right (like in this photo), it means I'm on the road heading to Neah Bay for an awesome week/weekend of fishing. When it's on my left, it means I'm heading home. I'm always happy to see it on the right and sad to see it on the left.

Awesome Pics JenC

My home away from home on the water as well...
Something about the escape to the place that rejuvenates the mind and sole...

Nice post - could not agree more. Barkley is truly an amazing place. There are so many places to explore and not enough time. Beaches, sea caves, First Nations culturally modified forests, wildlife....and of course fish!

The coming of winter doesn't have to stop all that fun. Some of my most memorable trips have been in winter. The pace of things is certainly slower. I don't feel the need for the usual morning rush to get up early and hit the water in a panic not to miss the "bite." Winter is a time to have a leisurely breakfast, several coffees and then wander out to check on prawn traps and return to a warm cabin to reflect on the day. At night, the sky is black on a clear night dotted by millions of stars. You can't hope to see as many stars in the city. Nothing more peaceful than a windless clear winter night listening to the sea lions on the other side of our island.

Maybe it was so peaceful because I was holding down a couch. Blame it on the fireball and fresh prawns.

I understand Ray. It is magical and powerful for the soul. Even my last trip up this past weekend to blow out the trailer lines, I didn't want to leave lol. Sunny skies on Saturday with the Broken group in clear site and what a sunset. It's still raw out there and I love it out there :).
