LO110D Lowrance LCX-110C Sounder/Chartplotter / DF $1,959.00
GP7000F Furuno GP7000F/NT Color GPS/WAAS Chartplotter/Fishfinder $1,689.00
RA02020 Raymarine C80 Navigational Display - 8.4" $1,565.00
US $/prices
Which one of these electronics would you buy ? Have you ever used or had one of the said units ?

Lowrance!!!!! The 110 is a great unit and enables you to add the lowrance radar as well!!!.... also it comes with all the pieces to set it up and use(gps antenna and transducer)... where raymarine is in components..(ie thats the screen only price i am guessing and you have to buy the antenna transducer etc seperate).... but that is only one mans opinion! Check Nikka or Rauer in the lower mainland! Usually prices match up pretty well with gps central!!

Will look at the Lowrance LCX-25C too. I think that the Lowrance LCX-110C might be just a litlle to big and require too much space. Find out once I get the new boat home, measure up the mounting location. Any body got any experience with either of these two units ? Either of these two units will allow me to add radar in the future, if I so deire.

Where did you get these prices from. I look around for a couple of weeks before I bought mine and I found that gps central in Calgary had by far the best prices. I actually bought not as good of a unit but the prices at gps central were fantastic. better then anywhere. Service was also really good. Not to mention no PST because it was in Alberta.

I was having a momentary lapse when I posted. Those are american prices. I will be looking in Alberta too. That's where the boat is from and I'm hoping to pick up some electronics while I'm out there getting the boat.

I have just had a bad experience with with Raymarine over warranty issues. They were real jerks. Waned to charge me for repairs even though unit was only 4 months old. Finaly had them send the unit back and returned it to dealer for full refund. Won't deal with them again. Dealer was shocked by their incompetance in dealing with customers.

Ill put my 2 cents in I run the 110 works great and with the WAAS system in it boots up in about 2 seconds and I never drop the gps even sitting still, in the past I have blown up an lowerance fish finder and sent it in and got back a better and newer one in about 10 days from when it left and found them very helpfull, look around the guide boats and see what there running and ask them there out everyday and using them thats the best advice I can give you.

Good Luck Wolf

Wolf your a guide aren't you ? Your running a Lowrance, I'm sure you looked at the other major manufacturers too. What made you choose the Lowrance 110C ? What do most of the guys that you know Wolf, run ? My last boat had a Lowrance 104C ,it was a good sounder. Just looking for a sounder that will let me add Radar in the future, If I so desire. GPS is a must too.

It is a personal thing liked the idea of the big color screen and the mapping system and like I said earlier about warranty issues, price was also good, a buddy of mine has the furuno and he needs the other chip so all he can do right now is zoom it to 2 mile min I like mine set at 1/4 of a mile to see the structure on the mapping system it is a really easy system to operate too his furuno I find a bit more difficult , I dont have a clue on how the added on radar works I have a separate rader system just to keep them separate personal reasons.

Good luck Wolf

I have seen the Lowrance radar in action and was quite impressed!

I would go with Lowrance. They have great specs, are cheaper than Raymarine and Furuno and with the new LowranceNet network system you can hook up additional sensors very easily.

Lowrance is considered to be a mid-range fishfinders - current models that is - not bad units. The X50/65/75/85 units are suffer from low technology and at best, are good for finding the depth but not much use locating fish compared to current Lowrance models. Having owed 332C, X75, X85, and 110c Lowrance units, Furuno FCV582 and currently, ther Furuno FCV585 digital sounder, I can attest to their pluses and minuses.

Recent advances in Digital Signal processing have moved current offerings from Lowrance down the performance list. Digital Finders form Furuno and Raymarine really make the the rest of consumer finders 2nd or 3rd class substitutes. However, Furuno and Raymarine do not come cheap running between USD 350-1400 depending on power capabilities and tranducer type. All offer 50/200kHz, temp and speed tranducers.

Furuno FCV620 with 600w - USD 895.00
Furuno FCV585 wiht 600w or 1kw - USD 1,295.00
Raymarine A-Series 500w - USD 360.00 (transome mount)
Raymarine A-Series 500W - USD 630.00 (Thru-Hull)

Both the Furuno units are a big step above anything from Lowrance but the Lowrance is no POS by any stretch of the imagination and you would be happy with 337c DF, or 110c or any of the color units from Eagle. However when comparing units/brands note that Lowrance's claims of Peak to Peak power output are quite misleading in that you must turn the gain to max to realize the peak power or peak cone angles.

Like everything in life you get what you pay for and if you survey commercial and hard-core tournament anglers you will find Furuno to be the number one installed finder. Digital Sounders flat-out smoke anything from Garmin, Lowrance, or others but, they do cost a pile. If budget ditates Lowrance quality I would go with that $360 Raymarine unit before Lowrance and Lowrance before Garmin or Hummingbird, etc...

Good luck in your search.

Barba, were did you get this info from? Do you have more info to back up the claims? What is the difference between a digital and non digital fish finder?

Some of the units you mention have low screen resolution. You can have a very powerful unit but if it has low screen resolution (like 320X240) you wont see any fish arches, unless your looking for really big fish in shallow water.
