Do anybody troll with baited lures?

I am going to try to troll for ling, cod, coalfish and pollack, and I want to learn as much as possible before I actually start. I was wondering if adding bait to the lures would give me more chances. I have fireballs and quite large swimbaits in my arsenal, and thought maybe hooking up shrimp or mackrell parts on them with bait elastic thread would help. Or is that a waste of time, and I will do better with just a Rappala or similar wobbler? Here are some of my larger swimbaits:

You can catch 40lb + lings on 4oz swimbaits, especially trolling with a rigger. I only use the big ones when I'm jigging deep in lots of current. Couldn't hurt to add scent, other than the added drag. That's what scent oils are for.

Norway?!?
How’s the lingcod fishing over there?
I found adding bait attracts more bycatch when fishing for lingcod. I like pipe jigs, but then again I like to fish the 1000 fish rock piles we have here on the coast 😎

To be clear, the lings he is talking about in Norway are completely different from lingcod which are only found along the Pacific coast of North America, and are neither true lings or cod but rather a member of the greenling family.

@Mastiff, I don't think you'll see much benefit adding scent to your lures while trolling, but do whatever makes you happy and confident in your gear - that's half the battle when it comes to fishing! I see trolling as a way to cover ground and attract fish visually with the lures action. If your target species are even half as aggressive as the lingcod, rockfish and halibut we get here, you will be fine.

Just looked them up. Ours are cooler 😉

@Rain City Scent oils are not sold in Norway. But I get the drag thing, so either small bits of mackrel or shrimps tied to the hook of a bit smaller lures. Thanks!
Is scent oil illegal, or just not available? It's an effective way to add the scent component without adversely affecting lure or jig action with physical bait.
