Dismal Pink Fry Counts

Just watched Chek news...not sure if any of you saw it as well, but those fall storms have apparently wiped out the Pink eggs and fry counts are extremely low....it seemed to be implied that this would only affect Pinks...would it affect the other species equally or do they spawn in more sturdy gravel areas, unlike the Pinks who chose the fine, looser gravel??

What pink runs were they referring to?? Fraser, Broughton, North Island?? Just curious if it is isolated to one area or affecting the whole coast.

according to DFO staff at Squamish, pink fry numbers there are outstanding.Hatchery guys I talked to said the fry coming out of the Cheakamus river was unexpectedly much higher than anticipated. Wonder where CHEK news was?

Tsolum river in the Comox Valley is where the story is from.

Real drag too cause the river was just starting to show promise after the Mine cleanup. Just one of the factors that hurts the stocks Im sure the high water this winter effected the Puntledge runs also, if not the damn seals will get them at the bridge.
