I'm doing my yearly cleaning/regreasing of my reels and I have a question for those experienced with these.
The drag knobs contain a a spring, brass washer ect. It looks like it would retain water if submerged or even heavily rained on. I usually put a light coating of Superlube in there but it always turns into a rusty gooey mess anyway thats a PITA to clean out the next season. I know the procedure for lubing the rest of the reel but there isn't much info on the drag knob specificly using the search. What do you guys do, if anything, for drag knob maintanance?

I literally just rinse and leave them indoors somewhere warm and dry. I have had one for 10 years and the drag still works great. No creep but still light enough to let a fish run.

Ok thanks. Think Ill just WD-40 the drag knob components this year and see how it looks in there at the end of next season. Appreciate the input.

Light grease on the springs and dawgs and spindle. Light oil in the handles.

Use something else like PEETZ said. WD-40 isn’t really a lubricant.

Super Lube oil is great stuff but not always as easy to find as their grease.

That’s my experience too. They are amazingly durable.
