defense Islands

I just moved to squamish and want to put my boat in the water around the area. I was told that the best bet would be to launch at Porteau Cove and head to defense Islands but I was wandering if there would be any better spots for this time of year?

And is there any crabbing around there too?

ive heard grace islands (twin islands)off gambier are picking up now as well..can anyone confirm this?
