After returning from Port Hardy, I tried to switch the Navionics chip folder from West Coast Island North, back to Johnstone Straits which includes the map data for CR/Comox. While I get a position acquired message, and all my previous weigh points are showing, there is no bathemetric data-- nada! Just a blank screen. Not even the Lowrance sketchy coast outline that you get when you dont have a Navionics chip.

The machine also lays down a track, but thats it!!

Anyone got any ideas or is my chip screwed?

Harbour Chandler will go thru it with you over the phone.... step for step... or you can take it to them and they will update your software while you are there... my buddy on the sunshine coast has the same problem.. so he just calls them and they go thru it step by step... Those Lawrance units can be so finicky I know your pain...

Thanks , I will take your advice , but first a friend who has a similar machine is going to bring his navionics chip over to see if that gives us any hints. Then , if no joy, off to Nanaimo.
Cheers

I've had that happen with my 112c a few times. Seems they have problems reading the map chip.

Try removing it and re-seating it. Cycle the power and then run through the menu and locate the proper charts for your area.

You may have to do this several times before you get your charts back.

You might also try cleaning the contacts on the chip with a clean pencil eraser - make sure you clean of the bits of eraser before you put it back in the Lowrance unit.

Good luck!

Jim-- thats what basically happened. A friend brought his Navionic chip over. First we tried just removing my chip and making sure there was no corrosion. It was clean. next we put my buddies chip in my unit and it worked fine. We then ran threw the menus and made sure it was on the right area folder. Well guess what-- it woke up and is now working fine...

Have you tried dialectric grease swab on the contacts on the chip-- sort of figured that might help prevent a reoccurance.
