we were just up at poet's cove on pender for a couple of night. as ususal, i found all the marinas and did a walkabout for future reference. what caught my eye was a boat at poet's cove. it is a whaler which was mfg'd by the brunswick 'authority' group. it lacked registration #'s and had no name, blue and white, closed cabin, short afterdeck. on the top deck was the most amazing array of electronic equipment i have ever seen on a small boat. FLIR, 3 GPS, multiple radio antennas, 3 high intensity spotlights, 3' open array radar.................

i asked at the marina and was told this is a private boat. but it got me wondering if any of you have seen this boat running aroudn. it is not rigged for fishing or any other sort of sporty activity that i could detect. does canada run interdiction boats like this??

any time i see a boat with way more electronics than i have i get curious :)

didn't take any photos, raining cats and dogs. the web site has a pretty good description. the one at poet's was dark blue below the gunnal, white up top. as i said, no registration #s or boat name. with all of that gear and twin 300's i had to wonder.

It's them or the Bad Guys.

You figure with all the **** hitting the fan in Northern Mexico those crooks are looking for other ways to get the stuff into the USA and I bet we're nominated.

Of course the cops know that too so the game is already in play.

thanks, i kind of assumed it was some 'authority' boat. interesting thing was no blue beacon so maybe they just do the snooping. would be easy enough with the FLIR and spotlights.

the game of cat and mouse has been going on since prohibition. the smugglers always win no matter the product. i just read of 165# of estasy being found somewhere around sumas. was walked across the border. who needs boats when a pair of shoes gets the job done.

The boat in that pic got a hunk bit out of the side by an Orca.

"Captain wired-in we got water comin' in and the good ship and crew was in peril..."

there is a sister hull, with registration and fishing gear! w twin 225 Hondas moored in tahsis - summers anyway

Saw that boat myself a couple months ago. Amazing looking rig, but I believe it is privately owned. Very nice [8D]

JUST FISHEN'

I think the guy who owns The Timbers across from Poet's Cove owns that rig. He has an equally cool lift he uses to keep it out of the water.
