I am new to fly fishing I am interested in the cowichan and gold or stamp. Any info on these rivers would be great. What flys, were to go, what months and water conditions are best. Thanks

Do you know some good flies to use for steelhead or trout their and roughly were to fish the upper or lower part of the river. Does the fly fishing only zone hold many steelhead.

Standard issue steelhead flies will work. Go bigger and brighter in high water and smaller in lower water. The trout will respond well to nymphs and egg patterns. The fly section has lots of nice flywater and does hold fish. It doesn't have alot of bank access and is best to drift. The rest of the upper has lots of good fly water as well. Good trails follow most of the river and there is good fly water in every section. Try around skutz falls, stolt's & the bible camp. Plan to put some miles on your feet and you'll find some nice water. The river will be blown out for a while, but if you have some time head out and find the access points so you're ready when the river comes in.

Being the first one of the day to fish a good pool is always exiting. Keep your fly on the bottom and cover lotsa water!

Downstream and across. Swing through the tailouts and you will nail fish in the Cowichan.

High stick the slots. Stack mend the head and dredge the pool.

These will all work.

Have fun
