Could somebody please help me getting Scotty connector sleeves for my HP?

I bought a Sotty HP 2106 with a bunch of extra parts last fall, as an early 60 years gift from my wife (yeah, I do love her, and I could not have justified buying that if she haden't decided on that!). I had forgotten to order connector sleeves, so I ordered four packs from Amazon, and a few days ago found out that they don't fit. They are 2402, made for the 150 lbs cable on all models except for HP, not heavy duty type 2404 for the 180 lbs cable on my unit. And the problem is that it doesn't seem like I can get them in Europe, I have searched a few hours and sent som mail, and nothing. I can get them from Canada, but the shipping is just ridiculous, twice as much as the sleeves themselves, and with VAT/sales tax on both shipping and parts I'm looking at around 100 dollars. Which is a bit much for me right now, and I would like to get fishing before I get money again in a couple of months. 😁

If somebody can get those locally and send them to me marked as a gift, and with the actual value (as long as they are below 50 CDN gifts are duty free), I could in return send the wrong type I have that fits the other Scotty's if the kind fisherman can use them. Shipping from Canada to Norway isn't expensive at all with Canada post (and vice versa, actually), but it seems like the shops insists on sending with Fedex or similar services, and they even demand an extra fee for custom clearance. If this is not a wish that I'm allowed to come with in the forum, please let me know.

Alternatively, if somebody could find them on Amazon or eBay with a reasonable shipping price, I would of course go for that, but I haven't managed that yet.

Happy fishing, everybody!

@Aquaholic Yes, but I did not buy any snubbers, I bought a Sure Stop Pro. And that has to be crimped directly on the cable. I'm scared to run 15 lbs weights without a snubber in a quite heavy and stiff aluminum boat, there is not much that can give if I snag the bottom. And from what I've read here the question is not if you do when trolling, but when you do.

The snubber will help somewhat, however did you check your tension on the brake pads so they are within the Scotty suggestions? If the brakes are too tight, the downrigger will not allow the cable to pay out when you get caught on the bottom.

Those crimp sizes you need do not appear to be proprietary to North America.
Can you take a sample of the cable and visit some industrial supply shops, or marinas/boat yards near you?

I haven't had lead in the water yet, I didn't dare to before I had this fixed. But the industrial supply idea is good! Didn't think about that, I thought I needed the original stuff to make it work. There is a great boating forum here in Norway, where I can ask about where to get something like that, thanks!

A better long term solution may be to switch to dacron downrigger line, and a shutoff stop on tuna cord. You will never have to worry about wire corrosion this way (the wire doesn't last more than a season or too as moisture is iharboured in the back of spool) I have an inventory of the crimping stuff too, DM me, and we can see what you need, Whatsapp is a great medium for pics but certainly read on setting your scotty brakes, its easy but there are some considerations. IMO the snubber is a cash waster and just another failure point. There's a better way and you can service yourself with a few materials that scotty also sells.

@BC Coast Pilot Thanks for answering! I know that many prefer the braid solution, and I may go that way myself when this wire is spent. But I want to use the wire for the two seasons I am expecting it to last first. :) I have also found a place to buy the connector sleeves from tips I got after the message on the boating forum, so I will try those. I just need to find out how thick the Scotty HP wire is, that doesn't seem to be a common stat to write anywhere.

If you endo the wire after 1 season wash and dry and lubricate/spray for storage, you may do better, otherwise just expect it to break off unexpectedly. I think I have a spools on the boat, I will look when I go down there, otherwise use a vernier caliper to measure the wire or take a piece to the supplier

@BC Coast Pilot That sounds like good advice, thanks! I am sending a mail to Scotty to ask the inner diameter of the sleeves, I hope they can tell me the correct size. The supplier isn't local, so I can't go there, unfortunately. But if the Scotty mail doesn't give any results I'll try with my caliper. 👍
