IronNoggin is away so I told him I would post this. On October 15th and 16th in Browns Bay 15 minutes north of Campbell River on Vancouver Island there will be a chum salmon derby. For those who haven't fished them before on the chuck you will have the thrill of catching by far pound for pound one of the best fighting fish and these fish are bright crome! Last year it was $10 to enter the derby and top prize I think was $500+ a rod and reel and many other prizes to. All the money goes to the salmon enhancement society. It was a blast and everyone caught fish My partner and I went home after two days with over 180lbs of fish. With double and triple headers moe then once!!!! For those that want to camp, there is a campground a 5 minute walk to the sheltered marina called ripple rock campground. They have agreed to give us a break only $22.50 per night that includes full hook-ups in every site (Water Sewer and Power) Plus use of the club house 24 hrs a day which has a pool table shuffle board and card table Plus use of the hot tub til 10pm. I have confirmed that there are only 28 sites left so far and I have booked a site and today I am booking one for lipptugger and sugarmagnolia. I know blueorca will be there and am almost positive Ironnoggin will be there too, plus quite a few more people. I think it would be great to see as many people come as possible I know it will be a weekend of great times and great fishing. The marina is very nice and has lots of moorage a store and a restaurant. I will post more details soon. So who else is going to be there????? You don't want to be kicking yourself a week later when you see how much fun everyone else had. Let me know if you need me to book you a site at the campground and I will do that for you. For a look see www.brownsbayresort.com Hope to see ya there

ps You don't need a huge boat these are fairly protected waters but there are strong tides and sometimes fog although last year there was no fog and we were fishing in tee-shirts.
They plan this derby for the best tides as chum love big floods!!!!
Happy Hookin!!!
