Chinook on a Fly!

Too muggy to sleep, so at 1:00 last night, I turn on WFN.
Not sure how old the show was, but here's Jay guiding Mark Pendlton out of Tofino. They are only fishing about 15 minute run out of town, from what I could see. They are using 8' HMX 4 piece flyrods, Islander reels with Jay's name engraved on them and a Clouser Articulating fly.
They show 9 hit and losses and then they hook a teen black mouth! It ran a little and appeared to give a good fight. Well done right!
Next they hook into something alot bigger, long runs into the backing, no tail dance, but what appeared to be a good tug a war!
A freakin 36lb. (Jay's estimate) to the net!!!!!!!!
Incredible, insane action.

Like I said, no idea how old the show was, so this may be dated, but it got my fishing lust stirred up!!

I've seen that one also, looks like a few years ago.
Can't even imagine playing a 36lb Tyee on an 8wt fly rod.
What a blast !

I was fishing in the Babine river years ago and a guy landed a monster black spring on a fly rod. He fought it for well over an hour. All of us sock wranglers were just watching in amazement when he got it to shore, his buddy took a pick and then he let it go.

hey did anyone see the episode of nice fish the other nite with gary cooper and rollie fishing out of sooke?,i think it was in the early 90's, is that profisher in the show?, its gotta be the same guy, how many ppl are there named rollie?, rollie fingers i know, but i cant say i know anyone else, maybe pro can confirm if it was him or not...i should have recorded it....holmes*

I worked on the Dean river for 2 summers and landed a few chrome springs over 30lbs on my 10ft 8wt. I miss that place.
