CakeEaters

I was reading a thread where guides hate it when a non guided boat drops gear on his butt. Well, I have boats pulling alongside me as well when they see some action happening. Now a client on a guided boat is paying 3-400 a day to fish but to own a boat and make it out fishing is a lot dearer that that. So my point is that it kind of makes sense to go where the guides are going if you are out for the one trip. It does not make sense to crowd them in a very big ocean.

If you have to be a "CAKE-EATER' show some respect and leave lots of ocean between the ones that have done the work to find the spot and needs to catch fish to get rebooked.

And for the guides "are all the spots really your own discoveries?' You "caked" a view of them I am sure

Stay calm on a rough ocean

Nope no cake eating here would rather get skunked then fish by somebody else . I've spent 25 years of my life finding spots. Isn't that half the fun in it. You have your spots for a month or so then people find you and it's over and time to move to the next spot.

Where did this term "Cake Eaters" come from?? Where I fish , those that constantly follow a guide boat are called "sheep" That make more sense then "cake eaters"

I found some of my spots simply by scanning the chart and looking for key areas. Other spots are common knowledge. Ive also way pointed areas where Ive seen other hi producing boats fishing as Ive cruised by. I wont drop my gear when theyre there though out of respect.

X2. I have on several occasions pre-planned out test locations, blasted out the PA canal set up course to the honey hole (that we hope is there), and then see a boat or group of boats on the horizon. The closer we get to them it becomes apparent that they are set up over the very spot that we plotted at home to test out. No I would not ever set up on them, just move on to a different spot, maybe keep an eye out to see if they clear out (if still nearby), and then move over to try out the orriginal target. After the first time this happened, we always plan a few spots to try before we leave just in case;). None of us own the ocean or the honey holes that we claim as "our top secret spots", but RESPECT is paramount, you pay it in order to get it. Give the guy that is set up there already some space (it's a big ocean), maybe if weather is permitting, pull along side and say hi, ask if they are having a good day - catching anything?? and then repectfully move on. If they are a nice guy they will say hi and share how they are doing and maybe offer some tips, and then if they are not,,, well you just get a cold shoulder - i've had that b4, oh well, some ppl are just a-holes:confused:, again move on.

Holmsey:would that be "Pie ala hair"
