Breaking in the new Boat on the Central Coast

So my brother and I just spent the last 6 months putting a 228 Grady White back together and decided a trip to the central coast was in order to give her a propper break in. I guided on the central coast and west side of the chalottes for about ten years but this time I was going back on a personal trip. Overall fishing was ok with a handful of tyees, endless coho and some nice halibut. The last moring of the trip will be burned into my mind forever and I figured you guys would apreciate these photos. This fish was caught and released as there was no way I could possibly think about killing it, way too cool. The measurents on the fish were 49x34.5 which brought it to 73 pounds! I am 6'3" and 230# for scale. Still can't sleep after this one......these is nothing quite like having a huge chinook swim away from the boat. btw no flashers here, cut plug herring 33' off the rigger in the kelp!

Thanks everyone, I have killed a few big fish during my guiding years and always hated to have to cut them up and put them in the freezer. The way I looked at it is once you catch it, measure it and take a bunch of photos what else would you want to do with it. I used the LxG^2/800 formula for the weight and that will get me close enough. I saw way too many 50+ pound chinook killed on my 9 day trip on the central coast. I told that guy to swim straight for rivers and to igore any more spinning flashy things! hehehe, need that one in the river!

What do yo call the central coast. Always wanted to head across from Port Hardy and do a trip and spend time
on the boat for a few days.

from mcinnis island to port hardy I could call the cental coast. A great place to check out if you have fuel to burn and like kelp beds!

Amazing! Congratulations on the fish and well done letting it go. I hope it makes it the rest of its way.
