Bottom Fishing tides

Do you have more success bottom fishing on low slack or high slack, do you notice a difference in your success?

Nice question.. any slack tide for structure works for me... but if its a sandy ground ive done well drifting in some heavy tides still where there is no worry of snagging.

slack is generally the last tide i will fish for lingcod. fishing through the tides lets you cover ground on your drifts and gets your bait seen by way more fish than sitting stationary . need to pick your drifts according to what pinnacles you fish on what tides as you never want to be drifting up hill if you can help it to avoid snags .

If you're trolling paddle tails for lings and rockfish, tides don't seem to matter much...

Some gentle drift, either by tide or wind is ideal for covering ground. Of course too much tide is either going to prevent you from getting the gear down, and when you do, you'll be losing gear. Dead slack has been pretty poor fishing in my experience.

I don't notice a difference. It depends also where your fishing. You want to look at current not the tide.

Current determines the direction I troll over a pinnacle or ridge, the tide hasn’t seemed to be as much of a factor.
