Boats needed for Aug 22 derby (Sooke)

Posted in important meetings/derbies thread as well (check there for more details about the event) - we should need some more skippers for our Consultant's Invitational (2 at least, perhaps more) - logistics is much easier for people between Peddar and Pacific Lions, but Sooke Basin guys work as well. Assume you'd get the typical 'going with a buddy' helping out with gas and bait kind of deal, but you also get a ticket to the event, eligible for the prizes, food from Smoken Bones, free beer served by hot girls , and a live band. End result is a nice donation to Sooke Salmon Enhancement. Please send me an email if you can make it out. Ideally you have access to additional gear, although it is possible the participants may very well have their own. May also be able to arrange with Peddar Bay to moor overnight if you are in the Pink Festival the following day.

Note for the guides that are already in as well, that juandesooka offered up an annual membership to his websites (coho level) for whoever guides the largest salmon - most of you know what that entails, but if not, check http://www.fishingsooke.ca for details.

I work for a consulting firm on the Island. There's 3 people with boats in our office...how do we get an invite?

If there is such a need for boats, sounds like maybe it shouldn't be an "invitational" derby..

freedom...email sent...Kelly, this is a social event for the civil engineers - we hope we can get non-fishers/non boat-owners out that work at the firms so they can have a fun day out on the water. We tell them to try to find boats, but if not, the committee sees what we can do to help them out. If no luck, they don't get to fish (perhaps just go to the main event after). Fairly simple. Doesn't hurt to ask, as the skippers from the past will attest, its a great event and its a pretty good deal just to take a few guys out.

And the trophy on my desk for biggest fish & a new reel from the prize table was a nice bonus to skipping at the 2007 derby It's a lot of fun and good food.
