Boat Trailer insurance coverages

Bought a brand new EZ Loader trailer last fall for our 27' boat and am wondering what coverage a person should have on it?? (Boat is insured privately.) Is collision and comp actually necessary? And if so, why? Or is basic with liability good enough? It seems insurance agents just want to sell you **** without proper explanation as to why.

When you are towing the trailer the liability insurance on the tow vehicles covers the trailer as well, so you dont need to put a lot of liability insurance on trailer. Especially if you use your safety chains.

If it is a 27 foot boat the trailer was probably pretty expensive so you will want to put comprehensive coverage on the trailer in case it gets stolen. but this would depend on if you park the boat trailer in downtown Harewood or on an acreage behind 2 locked gates.

its a few hundred bux ? i would get comprehensive $2 mil which is what i have on mine.

When the trailer comes free of the tow vehicle and travels independently is when that bit of trailer liability insurance really shines.
