Boat heaters

I am looking for advice concerning boat heaters. I am looking at kerosene, alcohol and propane fuels. I do not want to install a chimney as I only have a 19' outboard, and usually fish only 4-6 hours a day. Do you have any advice concerning stability, availability, safety, comfort, price etc. Thanks, Guys!

Hey Last Chance, may I ask how much coin one should expect to spend on one of these? Thanks, SS

Everything you need to install the unit plus the unit itself is $1700, you can hook it up as a defroster for your windshield as well !

The webasto is every fuel effecient as well 20L of diesel will give 100 hr of heat.

So far mine is the cheapest. We use an old Coleman Catalytic Tent heater, burns white gas and has been a life saver on some of those winter days. Used it in our 18 and now in our 21 and when zipped up it keeps things toasty without taking a lot of room. Generally there is enough leaks in the canvas to eliminate any fears of CO. Our 21 has a CO alarm and as much as we use the heater, it has never tripped the alarm. About 2 litres of fuel lasts 8-12 hours. Pick them up in the buy & sell for $20. Can't loose.

saltybeaver and Gimp,
I have both heaters that your talking about. The coleman heater puts out less heat but is very reliable and I have never had a problem with it. I also use it with a 20 pound bottle so it will last for forever almost and if you put batteries in it , it will blow the heat out. It has never gone out for any reason. The Coleman heater is a very good heater. The Mr Heater one puts out more heat but forget trying to use it outside... it just keeps going out from the smallest gust of wind. It will even go out if you tap it with your foot.... big waste of money that one is. So IMO the Coleman heater is a good buy.... it will heat up my boat with just a canopy up to hold the heat in.
