I was re-routing some ground wires around my battery today and I accidentally touched the positive terminal for literally a second...enough for an alarm up front to chirp. Now when I fire up the engine (1995 100hp Merc 2 stroke) it starts right up, runs smoothly as usual but no RPM's on the Faria tach. The tach needle bottoms out when I shut ignition off and just moves up to 0 when I put ignition into ACC or running the motor. The charging system is working as it should. Tach was working fine before and I tried the tapping test to see if the needle was stuck....no go. Any help or input would really be appreciated

Cheers

Check this diode block, this it out of the Merc 75-100 3 and 4 cylinder models manual. It doesn't give a location.
