AllRivers out of Westport landed a wild fish today . Most people would suspect striped marlin to be the main billfish to stray into PNW waters , let alone one of the most rare billfish species in the world . Short billed Spearfish , insane catch.
are any of these pelagic fish mentioned in our regs? is this just a rare fish to catch here? plenty south i assume? would you release a billfish here or crack it?

Was out of Westport so not very far south at all. Very rare catch , the odd striper but shortbill spears aren’t common anywhere in the world where billfish are usually caught let alone Washington state
