Beginner Shore Fishing In Local Victoria Lakes

I am totally new to fishing and am trying to find a few good local lakes to fish at. I don't care what I catch, I just want to catch something!! I do not own a boat so I would like a few tips on shore fishing, locations, and any little tricks. Thank you!!
