Just thought I'd let you all know (if you don't already) that there is only about 3-days left (till Apr. 8th) to call BC Hydro and schedule a pick-up of any older or otherwise fridges' you want to lose.

Read: http://www.bchydro.com/rebates_savings/fridge_buy_back.html

My wife scheduled a pik-up for a really old one for Monday and when I measured it to see if it was over 5ft. tall (it wasn't) I figured it wouldn't qualify (apparently older ones don't have enough freon to warrant recycling) so I called them back yesterday morning to cancel the pick-up and she said not to worry about it and that the crew would just keep on driving if nothing was out there. Today I got a call from the road crew asking why the fridge wasn't out there when they came by and I told them I canceled the pick-up cause it was too short (the fridge, I mean).
The guy says not to worry and to have it out there next Mon. AM and they'd take it. "Yee ha!" I says. I don't care if get the rebate or not; the landfill charges $25/bucks or so to recycle them. Good on the guy for following-up on it!

The program is Province wide I think.

Hope this helps someone.

If they still run sell them on Craigs List and get more money for them. I sold my old fridge for $100. Sold within hours of posting it.
