Is pretty weird how this played out. Our past rental would have lump payment due of up to $600-700, but our anniversary was June and they just hammered the heat during a bad winter. This is only a couple months into winter so for them to get that far ahead of the monthly payments seems pretty odd as that shouldn't run up in the summer like that.
While sad for the family in general, as FA says, its really their own fault. If you actually looked at your bill, you would see the deficiency building month after month and would have known it was time to prepare. Assuming it was your household and not a hijack, you make the adjustments accordingly...stay ontop of kids leaving on lights, keep heaters down to 66 or 67 and wear sweaters. Whatever is needed to be done. Timing sucked for sure, Hydro a big dumb jerk about it, but it could have likely been prevented. Good reason we have as little possible with hydro! Hate those guys as much as BC Ferries!
