Bamfield report Nov 13

It's such a beautiful sunny day out there I just couldn't resist climbing in the boat and putting out the prawn traps this morning. They have been coming in pretty thick lately with each day getting even better.

Since it's so nice I thought I'd troll my way back to the harbour and soak some gear.

Wouldn't you know it, I was rewarded with a nice little 6lb spring - first winter of the season!

These nice days at this time of the year are just so surreal. Not a soul on the water, sun shining, full traps and silver smiles...

I'm headed to the mainland sturgeon fishing this weekend, but next week is supposed to be gorgeous so I'll put in some real effort and give a more thorough report now that I know there might be a few fish around.

White hoochie behind green hot spot @ 125ft.

Anyone interested in a New Years derby???

Hmmmmm... Now that's a distinct possibility!
Good to hear from you Rabbi! Been wondering what you've been getting up to for entertainment now that the touristin have fled and Bamfield once again devolves into a sleepy little orbitroby ghost town.:D

Headed offshore myself tomorrow, chasing springs of course. Back Monday, then once again off to the flatlands for another round in the killing fields. Will touch base upon my return.

Regards to your much Better Half!:)

Cheers,
Nog

totally interested!
Sounds like a pretty good day out there...compare that to dragged my butt out of bed at 5:30, headed into the office, sat at my desk 'til 5:00, went home, layed laminate flooring until 8:00...you get the picture...very jealous.

You must be fishing the harbour mouth or do you go offshore for winters? Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know anything about Bamfield winter fishing.

Nog - Hope you guys got a couple, gimme a shout when your back. Cheers to the good looking one in your household as well.

C.S. - Jealousy will get you no where. Just come out for a trip would you!

Back a tit- I'm jealous of you, that sounds so fun. If only I'd been more responsible in life...

Bod - Any day you're into it, I'm always game. We're gonna I think we're gonna work on this little New Years idea, especially if there is some local interest.

Slab burn - That day was just out of the harbour, but the bulk of the winter fishing occurs further into Barkley Sound, not much opportunity to get offshore this time of year.

Oh yeah, and I'm just back from sturgeon fishing on the Fraser so if you want to see how that went you can go to freshwater...

Gimee the gaff!!!

You guys live in Bamfield? WTF? Do I know you? I must ;) I'll come to New Years Derby. I'll stay at Brody's.

Take only what you need.

This really</u> pisses me off. You *******, Osama... why couldn't I have chosen to be irresponsible like you? [B)];)

Osama - were you out bangin on Fraser River bottom feeders with Jerry? I think he mentioned you guys ran into quite a bunch of them. Nice to hear you had a great day on the water.

Hey CS, take Jeff up on his offer and head out there for a trip. You have to bring me along though, my boat is in storage.

Jeff, anymore rumblings on what we talked about at Browns Bay, or can you remember. Say hi to Jodi for me. Thanks for the email by the way.

Kildonads - You know where to find me...

Searun - Yep. Jerry was our man. What a nice guy. Will recommend him for sure. Was a sweet day all right except for all my vomit for the first few hours... Had been a while since I'd been off the rock.

Baddog I don't forget anything. what? huh?

Fish butt butt - I'm not sure... I know who Brody is but haven't met him yet.

So New Years Derby is a definite possibility. I'll start a separate thread.

Tx Jeff. Jerry is a great guy and good fisherman. I've known him for about 25 years. He may come over and run my boat part time this year. All depends on if I keep my Wellcraft - just bought a 265 Grady White Express. Not sure if I want the hassle of running 2 boats. Regardless great to hear you had a great trip with Jerry.

Yeah, the more boats...

Be great guy to have out here on the water though. That's half your battle right there.

Baddog - hahaha delivery to the workplace. That is service my friend!!!

See you soon!

Kelly - gotta have a fish to compare, I wasn't showing off to much either...
