Bamfield Nightly Moorage

Hey folks, looking to find a place to dock the boat for 2 or 3 nights at some point this summer around Bamfield. Our plan is to launch from Clutesi Haven and head up the inlet for a few days of fishing. Usually we make the trip back and forth each day but are wanting to try something new this year. Any recommendations? Open to anything really (ie: sleep on boat, in room, etc.) We dont have an anchor so would need a dock to tie up to...

thanks in advance

West side government dock. Safe, quiet and has power. You might even bump into the famous (infamous?) Osama. DON'T tie up overnigt at the East dock.

why not tie off on the east side? just a q?

the warfinger on the west side will charge you every inch, yes power and water,, and jeff and jerry show!! , i have 14' alu and in offseason she wanted me to pay for 16'.... not that its huge but every time i try to be polite or give her the benefit of the doubt,( last three seasons since she has had the job, she comes off as rude as heck to me,,, and i am used to a--holes in vancouver!!!

I've spent two nights on my boat on the east side. One night a drunken gillnet skipper crashed into the boat tied up next to me at 2:30 in the morning, the other night a couple drunks came on my boat looking for a place to sleep after the bar closed.
We boat every weekend to various marinas around the island, so dealing with rude warfingers and moorage fees is second nature, but I can see why you'd be put off. Personally I'll pay $20 for secure quiet moorage anytime, and the campfire at Mills is an added bonus.

Moorage and sleep on the boat I can do most times at our place. Moorage with accommodation I can do at $300.00 a night in a property we manage.
If you don't need anything on shore, there is a mooring buoy in Port Desire for free, as well as lots of places around Barkley Sound.
You could always spend a couple of bucks on an anchor and have a peaceful spot all to yourself.

Harbourside lodge is also a good spot. Just south of the West dock. Fuel, Ice and advice. Free use of freezers. Tackle shop. SHowers, power, water and a good cleaning station. Tell Aussie John I sent you.

I agree with Bod...you should have an anchor, the money you will save running back down the inlet will pay in no time, besides they can come in handy at times...this I know from experience ;)

In April Kildonan and I tied up at the West Bam govt dock, $20 per night for my 20 foot. I did not have any problems with the moorage gal but I did have to use all my "people skills" to ensure a fair deal... We stayed in the Mills Cabins as per usual though, no sleep aboard comforts on the Thunderjet.

You could ask Osama to show you a couple of dandy secluded coves and beaches to tie up in the Broken Islands, that's frickin' paradise and they're free!

There's always the Port Alberni Yacht Club at Robbers Passage. A bit of a run from Bamfield but a great place to stay.
