Hey Guys

Im heading over to Bamfield for a 4 day trip in mid june. I was wondering if there are a couple must have lures for that time of year in Barkley Sound area? Also will the fish be inside or mostly outside at that time of year.

Any tips are helpful
Thanks

It was awsome inside early june last year with easy limits of mostly smaller springs 8-12lbs but we got a few 20+ and smaller 4-5 lb hoes. They were feeding on needlefish and army truck coyote was the top producer at 80-100ft.

We got offshore one day at 7 mile and it was slow with some springs to high teens. They were feeding on big herring out there so any imitating plugs, spoons, hootchies

My fav BS rig is a green/white spoon behind a white flasher. It is unstoppable in August. Never actually fished there in June.

When we were there last June we caught a bunch of fish just like Kelly says above. We had our best luck using white or translucent UV hootchies fished at 60-80 feet over at Swale, Gibralter, Meares, Austin. Our best hootchie by far was the UV Judge, Jury and Executioner hootchie from Captain Downriggin.

Went to Bamfield in mid June 07, fishing was excellent! We limited on springs up to 27 pounds fishing the inshore usual spots. The channel on the inside of Ship Island was a particular hotspot, 100 feet down on a green/white Coyote spoon. We also caught 2 halibut 20 pounds and 45 pounds on the downriggers.

hey Steelhead what length of leader are you running on the setup?

Cheers
Jeremy

Bacon, about a 5' leader. I figure it is close enough that it benefits from the flasher attraction, but far enough back that it can do its own thing without flopping around too much. I don't know the name of the flasher, but is is a white blade with a pearly bumpy sticker.

With what everyone else is saying, sounds like June is a great time to go. Looking forward to having the time to check it out earlier this year!!

G26LBD 42" behind green/glow flasher...
If I could only have one setup on board, this is it. Works in Bamfield, Nanaimo, Sooke, French Creek, Telegraph Cove, and probably anywhere in between.
