Area 14 recreational Lingcod opening?

I caught two lingcod a couple of days ago, both were over 65cm but I returned both because I was not sure what the retention regulations are at present. I telephoned the Comox DFO office today to check and they didn't seem to know either. They said consider it closed at present but phone back in May and they may have a further update. If they don't know themselves, how are we expected to know?

Effective October 1, 2008, the recreational fishery for lingcod and rockfish by hook and line and dive in Areas 13 to 19, 28 and 29 and Subareas 20-5, 20-6 and 20-7 is closed.
