Anyone use garmin glo?

I've had one for close to a year. It's a GPS receiver, so no fees. I use mine with an ipad, mostly on land. However I do have the navionics app on my Ipad and will use it as a back-up on my boat. Great unit, just be sure to keep it charged, since there is no way of knowing when the power is low. The other thing to watch out for is the on/off switch, it's easy to accidentally shut it off. I keep mine in a small otter box, similar to a pelican case.

does it keep updating quickly? can you charge it up on the water if needed? It would be a backup unit...and when my wife gets bored she can read a book on it! Lol

The Glo works great. It utilizes both American and Russian satelites and is extremely accurate. The battery lasts all day and charges with a usb cord. The ipad's battery is the weak link and most cigarette usb chargers aren't powerful enough to charge the ipad (probably the same with androids). I just replaced my 12v in dash cigarette lighter with a dual usb 2.1 amp charger. It keeps the Glo and Ipod charged up. The only frustration I have is with the Ipad recognizing the Glo. I have to turn off wifi, turn off location services, then power the ipad off. Then turn the Ipad on, turn on bluetooth and turn on location services and it will connect with the Glo and works flawlessly all day.
