does anyone recall the "old salty" charter guy that ran out of rennell sound? I think that is where it was a guy would take ppl hali fishing for $100 per person/day near the park/ old log dump in rennell sound is where I think he ran out of....i don't have his contact info, etc and so if anyone could pass that along it would be much appreciated.

I used to head up to the charlotte's almost every year but haven't been in the last six years and so don't know if he does this anymore...i think it was a converted longliner that he was using...he was a bit of a grumpy old salty but the prices were good for getting some halis in a relatively isolated area

thanks,
ryan

His name is Terry...and yes this old salty is a little sour! Two years ago the logging raod to Rennel sound was washed away and he didn't do any business, last year...he was still killing chickens in Rennel sound.

I would fish for Halibut in the Jaun de Fuca my self....bigger halibut and you can enjoy yourself with a good captian, not an old grump like Terrry....and you can tell him I said that!

Thanks very much for the info.

I would prefer to fish here as well......vancouver island area, and my brother usually comes out but our families.....meaning wives decided they wanted to get together and spend a week in masset beach crabbing, etc...and I have never taken my brother out hali fishing....he has only started coming out the past couple of years and we only get one or two days on the water....with all the "family" obligations. So I thought I would take him out with old salty since the price is right and it is just more going to be my brother catching his first hali and spending brother time together.

On a side note, I was thinking of mooring my boat in either sooke or mcneill this year.....decisions, decisions...any opinions?

thanks for the info,
ryan
