Another spin on part time guides!!! LOL

So what happens when you get a full-time guide that retires...and...decides to become a part-time guide, say, for health reasons.?

And if all the fulltime guides decide to go "union" and charge a standard price...this still does not mean that you will get your money's worth.
There are good and bad in any business.

You guys that do all the whining are probably the same guys that brag about the paint job or carpentry deal you got done under the table for cash only last weekend.....rather than call a fulltime painter or carpenter....

The only painter and carpenter I can afford is the one looking at me in the mirror each morning when I brush my teeth.

Most full time guides are superb at their job. Would I want it? Hell no. Fishing can't be a job for me. It needs to be an escape from the job. When I worked for Fisheries, the last thing I wanted to do after working in the hatchery all day was to go fishing. ;-)

i give full credit to the full timers on wcvi , people think fishing EVERYDAY must be such a blast , what an ez job , wish we could do what they do ,
bottom line here , i dont think most us would be able too , LONG days , prepping , cleaning , dealing with rough seas , strangers , idiots on occasion lol ,
know it alls etc..... 7 f'n days a week when shes rockin n a rollin , it can be a tough gig ,,,

I only see them out there on fair weather days , im a ***** what can i say , i dont need fish that bad , i can usualy scrape a fish or 2 on the inside when needed : )
" they dont have a choice most of the time.. thinkin a high pressure job...
they need production , and thats not an option,,, the good ones always produce.....when most casuals dont !

I 'll confirm that of all the jobs I've had in my 52 years that I'm more mentally exhausted after a long consecutive day guiding stint then from anything else I've done. Honestly by the time October rolls around I've frankly seen the boat enough for the year. People ask all the time if after 25 years I still enjoy the business. I tell them all the same thing, after 25 years everything becomes "JUST" a job. I close by saying...do you think the last 5 years of Gretzky's career were the same for him as the first 5 years? Kinda tells you were your head ends up over the long haul. There are still good and memorable days, but most just become a blur. You kinda go on autopilot.
