Amazing adventure story. Small boat in a big sea.

I thought this was a very good read. Adventure is the spark of life that keeps one going in this world. These fellows out of Cali sure knew how to go on an adventure back in 1958!

1500 miles in a 15.5' boat!!!

Lorne don't sell the Blue Girl just yet lol:D.

I couldn't agree more. Those stories are fascinating and inspirational. We have safer, more reliable small boats and other safety aids (depth sounders, GPS/electronic charts, radar, AIS) that were unimaginable even a few decades ago. But we shouldn't let our legitimate concerns for safety stifle that spirit of adventure that we so often feel. These types of stories show that a good adventure is worth its weight in gold. Properly managed, as opposed to foolish, risks are the gateway to unforgettable experiences and memories. It would be interesting to hear members tell of their planned adventures that tested their limits, as opposed to the war stories where they survived the unexpected on an ordinary trip. Any volunteers?

The tuna trip thread and the bamfield shootout thread are full of them ;).

What's even cooler is some of the stories of Charlie heading up here in his boat to fish. Quite the adventures for sure. I agree it would be cool to read others planned adventures. I'll start a thread.

Cheers,
John

Great read! Just entered a contest yesterday to win funding for a trip from Vancouver to Sitka Alaska in Jonny's hourston. Surfing, fishing and exploring our way up the coast would make for an unreal month!
