Aerial report

Just a quick report for the herring guys. At 300pm on Sunday I saw 2 very large herring balls in Pat Bay while coming in to land. They were about 100m off shore approx 300-400m south of the Ocean Science docks. They were boiling the water however you will have to fight with over 50 seals as they were all lined up about 20m from the balls. Also you will probably need a boat as it was out in front of very nice private property.

Just thought I would let you know!

Thanks for the aerial report ~ great information and much appreciated. Keep em coming!

Any update Twin?

Well the balls appear to be gone outta Pat Bay. Didnt see anything out there today except a bunch of bird activity around the 4 naval bouys. Looked real scary out on the water today!!!

Any recent reports Sidneyboy? I was considering a trip around the inlet tomorrow to see if there are any herring still hanging around. Saw some seal activity on the North side of Pat Bay this afternoon but not sure if they were chasing herring or...?

Nothing new to report. There was a fairly evident tide line running (north to south) up the middle of the inlet between Arbutus ridge and Deep cove that had some bird activity on it with a few seals loitering around but I wasnt able to see any definate bait. Dont want to send anyone on a wild goose chase so I will say I didnt see much.

Just flew in over Pat Bay at 11am today...Sunday. There is a large ball of bait 50m off the north shoreline of Pat bay just out from the reserve. A hundred birds or so with about 30 seals. The bait pool was fairly thick and they were actually clouding the water white. Just thougth I would let you know!!!

Actually yeah, it was tricky to stay on them but we caught a few. Must be the end of the spawn ~ drove along Pat Bay at lunch today and didn't see much either.

Well glad to hear my info was of use to someone. LOL...how did I do on my distance measuring and directions from the sky...
